The National Center for Clinical Practice in Educator Preparation (NCCPEP) is excited to announce the launch of a new Clinical Practice Webinar Series, focused on the topic of recruiting, developing, and retaining mentor teachers. In addition to exploring a high-interest and emergent problem of practice in clinical educator preparation, the series will also set the stage for an opportunity to attend an in-person regional professional development workshop event on the same topic in early 2020.
The first webinar in this three-part interactive series, Recruiting, Developing, and Retaining Mentor Teachers: An Overview, will be held on October 1, 2019, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. EDT.

The webinar learning agenda will include:
Introduction to the series and topic:
This will include topics such as the role of mentor teachers; lexicon usage/differences in practice; and partnerships contexts for advancing goals to improve processes to recruit, develop, and retain high-quality mentor teachers.
Why start with this topic? The imperative role of Mentor Teachers in Clinical Educator Preparation:
This will include topics such as the research-based rationale for building a stronger, more intentional process; opportunities and challenges to improve processes within clinical partnerships; and considerations in local contexts.
More focused topic exploration during webinars #2 & 3:
During the webinar, there will be opportunities for participants to provide feedback that will inform the content and focus of the remaining webinars in the series and the subsequent in-person regional workshops.
Webinar participants will also be provided with the opportunity to learn about an in-person NCCPEP Professional Learning Workshop on the topic of Recruiting, Developing, and Retaining Mentor Teachers that will be offered regionally next year, beginning with the first workshop planned for early 2020. By attending the webinar on October 1, you will be among the first to receive information about this unique P-24 professional learning opportunity, designed to support university-based and school-based educator clinical partnerships in establishing new processes and strengthening existing approaches to recruiting, developing, and retaining high-quality mentor teachers. Feedback from webinar participants will also inform the development of the workshop and future installments in this webinar series.
